Things I Wish I Would Have Known: The Hidden Keys to Heart and Metabolic Health
with Dr. Georgia Nab | Season 12, Ep. 513
Your body is talking—are you listening? In this eye-opening conversation, Dr. Georgia Nab breaks down the vital connections between heart health, blood sugar, and overall well-being through the lens of functional medicine. She reveals why common misconceptions about blood pressure and cholesterol could be putting you at risk, how a simple cardiac score can be a game-changer, and why stable blood sugar is the foundation for hormone balance and energy. With practical tips like increasing fiber intake, practicing intermittent fasting, and reducing hidden sodium, she empowers you to take small but powerful steps toward lasting health.
Key Takeaways:
- Functional medicine looks at the body as a whole, addressing root causes rather than just managing symptoms.
- Many people, including doctors, neglect to check their own blood pressure regularly, despite its critical role in heart health.
- Low cholesterol can be just as concerning as high cholesterol, increasing risks for dementia and hormone imbalances.
- Electrolyte mixes are often unnecessary and can contribute to excessive sodium intake, which negatively impacts heart health.
- Continuous glucose monitors can provide valuable insights into how different foods affect blood sugar, helping to fine-tune dietary choices.
